The Brass Factory is a brass band in the British tradition comprised of musicians from northern New Jersey and southeastern New York. With the exception of the trombones, which are cylindrical by design, the instruments of the band are conical by invention. French horns are not found in a brass band, in their place are Eb horns. This unusual instrumentation produces a very special tone color, a timbre very different from the usual symphonic band or wind ensemble.
The Brass Factory plays a broad range of selections, some specifically written for brass band, others special arrangements and transcription from the classical and commercial music traditions. The breadth of composers and arrangers make for a splendid variety of musical flavors. The band is pleased to introduce new audiences to a time honored musical tradition, the “brass band.”
